Patriotic Car Parade in Skye Canyon

Show off your patriotic and community pride while maintaining safety and social distancing guidelines this Memorial Day with the Skye Canyon Inaugural Patriotic Parade this Monday May 25!

Part of the Thrive@Skye program, the first-ever Patriotic Car Parade is an opportunity for families to decorate their vehicle in red, white and blue. The Patriotic Car Parade will be on Memorial Day on Monday, May 25 and will originate and end through a festive balloon arch back at Skye Center with cars lining up at 10 a.m. The official Car Parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. and will be led by a themed-float and representatives from Kline Veterans Fund, the community’s charity partner. Participating vehicles will each receive a special lanyard and commemorative pin.

The parade will travel on a designated route throughout the Skye Canyon neighborhood before returning to Skye Center where residents can opt for a safety-minded picnic in the park while adhering to current safety protocols.

Whiskey in the Wilderness at Home

Continuing our love for the people that live and work locally that make our industry so special, we are taking Whiskey in the Wilderness virtual. Instead of joining us on a pasture near Red Rock guest can purchase tickets for any one of the featured dishes and drinks that are inspired by our past event.

When guests buy dishes their name will automatically be entered for a chance to win tickets for the next Whiskey in the Wilderness in 2021. Also, as a way to raise money for local charities, we will be raffling a painting by local artist Jerry Misko. Each year Jerry provides a painting that represents the fires of our event. Buy as many raffle tickets as you wish to help your chances to win the painting and help the community.

Finally, local bartender and friend Sarah Gage will be hosting a live fireside chat over Instagram with our participating food and beverage professionals, throughout the next few weeks. Watch our social media for times. Whiskey in the Wilderness will return!!

Magic Hour Photo Walks at The Neon Museum

Photo Walks are an opportunity for hobby photographers to wander the Neon Boneyard and North Gallery (770 North Las Vegas Blvd Las Vegas) for 1.5 hours to take photos of the sign collection, for personal use, with all of their chosen equipment including tripods, multiple cameras and extra lenses.

Drive-in Drag Show

The World’s First Drive-In Drag Show Premieres on May 30 to Benefit Golden Rainbow and Actor’s Fund
What: Dreamland Drive-In will present the “world’s first drive-in drag show” on Saturday, May 30, hosted by Edie from Cirque du Soleil’s “Zumanity” and featuring a variety of song and dance numbers plus a few surprises.

The show will serve as the launch event for “Golden Rainbow Gives Back,” a collaboration to raise money for Golden Rainbow to provide services for people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS as well as the Actor’s Fund to help the Las Vegas community sustain during these difficult times and honor the tradition of giving from performers who have supported Golden Rainbow throughout the years. Profits from this event and future events will be divided equally between Golden Rainbow and the Actor’s Fund, of which 100 percent will be directed to Las Vegas-based performers.

When: Saturday, May 30 with performances at 7 and 10 p.m. Parking starts 30 minutes prior to each show.

5th Annual MuMu Party Gone Digital

The 5th Annual MuMu Party has gone digital!

Due to the Covid-19 global pandemic, the Imperial Royal Sovereign Court of the Desert Empire, Inc. made the hard decision to cancel the 5th Annual MuMu Party that was scheduled to take place at Flex Cocktail Lounge on May 16th. Jason and myself, felt that we should still hold this fun and creative event. With that in mind, we decided to take it digital this year! We need your help to make it happen!
This event will have three parts to it.

Part 1: We are asking for anyone who is willing to send a video of them performing (3-4 minutes filmed horizontally) or a video message that they want to give to the world (max 2 minutes) that will be edited into one video that will be uploaded to Youtube. This is opened to everyone and anyone that wants to participate in this. Please email videos to Empress Phat Patty at christophero1121@gmail.com by Saturday May 23rd at 8:00pm.

Part 2: The MuMu Contest!!! We are asking that anyone who wants to participate in the MuMu contest to please email Empress Phat Patty their picture to christophero1121@gmail.com by Saturday May 23rd at 8:00pm. The categories this year are: The Most Popular, The Most Creative, The Prettiest, and the Most Photogenic. We have the prizes on hand and will mail them out to the winners.

Part 3: There will be a Facebook Live on May 30th from 7:00pm-8:00pm with a select panel to discuss the MuMu Party, how the contest will work, and other various topics. This will happen right before the video launches at 8:00pm.

We are opening this up to anyone who wants to participate from the Court circuit, to the Rodeo circuit, to local performers, to anyone that wants to have fun!
